...just slightly off topic since Rics and VOXes go well together :)

..anyways, i'm hearing mixed reviews of VOXs new line
of AC30s ...a store near me has a AC30CC2X (2 blue
celestions) ....before i go try it out, any opinions on this
model...they're made in China, i know they've added some
extra circuitry from the original AC30s ...how close to the
classic great AC30 sound do these new models have ?
quality/ reliability ? ...thanks

You'll have to do more research on the net but from I know:
1) NCM burns them in for hours before they ship them because of a slight
failure rate.
2) The AC30 is too loud for clubs. Musicians are going for the AC15
with 1 12" instead.
3) There is no way a new China AC30 is going to sound as good as an old
AC30 but they are somewhat close.
4) You get a master volume and reverb on the new ones.

What clubs are you playing in, sure the AC 30 is loud but the volume is very
controlable unlike Fender amps where you go from silent to loud between 0
and 1.
BTW I am a musician although my choice of amp apparently sends the wrong
signals.

To hit the sweet spot or to get "the sound" out of an amp you usually
have to tune it up somewhat and there's a difference between turning up
an AC30 and an AC15.
Of course, I think bands are too loud (this might depend on the style of
music you play and your age) and I don't play as loud as I use to.
And , the AC15 isn't as heavy! LOL!

The AC-30cc with the master volume isn't too loud for clubs but can be
very easily. The new Brian May AC-30BM is the amp that's too loud for
clubs. One knob and one foot switch for volume, volume and more volume.

I compared a new AC30cc 2-12" with an AC15cc with 1-12 and liked the
sound of the AC15 better, but both amps are cool sounding.

Now all the complaints over the years start to make sense, I guess IŽm
playing too loud.
