Where in the world can you find a decent, really used RIC?

All you see on ebay are mint condition preowned axes that look like
they've been treat more for investments than playing.

If I am going to pay those kinds of prices for a RIC, I'll buy one
new. The last good deal on a RIC was a '73 4001 with a mismatched
knobs and switches from other guitars.

The price was around 300 $ and one of the best deals I've had

You can't they are so expensive at the moment, Rickenbacker sells more
copies than they can produce so used Rics cost almost more than new ones. I
bought a 4001 around 5 years ago for 580 dollars which would be impossible
at the moment (I wish I had bought 10 more, that was the ebay price at that
time).
The thing with Rickenbackers is that sometimes everybody wants them and
sometimes noone does so the clever thing to do is to wait until they are at
their height of unpopularity, then buy all you can afford, pick out the best
for yourself and let the other ones rest in their cases until the next wave
comes. And the next wave always comes, it's been like that since the mid60s
where everybody played them, the late 60s-early 70s where noone did until
the Jam came along and made them fashionable until the early 80s where they
went out again. Then they came back with a vengence and have stayed around
since the mid 90s.
Anyway since everything else is going very 80s at the moment it could also
very well mean that Rics will again take the backseat for a while which
means cheaper guitars for all us who actually use them.
