I just aquired 3 new Rickenbackers guitars (660-6 660-12 and a 360-6).
All will be in need of new strings soon. Since there is no
Rickenbacker dealer where I live ( the closest is a Sam Ash in
Indianapolis about 1.5 hrs away) can anyone suggest an alternative to
Pyramids that I could purchase locally.( We have a GC and several
local guitar stores) I would prefer ones that will give me that
classic Ric chime (Byrds,Petty et al) Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

Be careful with this purchase of strings. I bought some Pyramids for
my 360v64 12 and then the shop would not install them because they
would have to cut the nut to fit them. Just get the strings from
rickenbacker or http://www.pickofthericks.com/cart32_ric_strings.htm

Does anyone know what "compressed" roundwound strings are? I have the
Rick 12-string set and they appear to be rounds that are flattened
somewhat (i.e., ground wounds?).
Also, I understand that Rickenbacker is no longer making the 6-string
set with the 12 on the high E, so buy them now if you use them.
